Even after so many things being wrong in our life, our life is perfect in its own imperfections. There are so many things around us for which we cannot be thankful enough. Your life is someone else’s fairy tale, but do you take a moment to realize this and show gratitude? Well, even if you do, you should do it more because..

Because there is so much in life to be thankful for. So what exactly is Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada, in the United States, in some of the Caribbean islands and in Liberia. It was originally celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival holidays occur in Germany and Japan. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday as well.

Apart from Thanksgiving as a festival on specific days, you have whole year to express your gratitude because festival is not made to restrict that to one day, rather festivals are made as benchmark days to remind you that you should be doing this usually in your life.

But again, do you think only expressing gratitude is only thing you should do to be really thankful for what you have? Well, think again. I think there are lot of ways to make this world more beautiful with just your gratitude. I will try to list few one’s.

Give someone something which they cannot afford

There are always less fortunate people around you, and you are always in a position to help someone. Giving does not always means a monitory donations, giving is much much more than that. Giving your time to someone who is lonely is more valuable than giving money to a beggar who is eligible to do work.

Smile does wonders

We always think there is some goodness in having little arrogance or we might be taken for granted. I disagree with that because smiling to a stranger, wishing security guards, talking with floor sweepers with smile can mean something very encouraging to most. There is no tax on smile (yet :P), you don’t get tired in having a day long smile, then why you do not make someone happy with it? Also, remember, this is part of your thanksgiving, because by this, you are showing you are humble to consider everyone as human being without any prejudice.

Writing down your gratitude’s

I will urge you to follow a simple experiment to realize how fortunate you are, even if you think you are not.

  1. On Thanksgiving day or on a new year, buy a transparent glass jar and name it ‘Thanksgiving’
  2. Write at least 3 things every week which were your best moments of your week, maybe having lunch with your best friend, or seeing a really nice butterfly which made you smile, or whatever matters to you most in that specific week which made you happy.
  3. Fold it and put in a glass jar every weekend
  4. Continue this for a year
  5. When the next new year or Thanksgiving arrive, bring over your friends or family or even a single person who is always happy in your achievements.
  6. Open the jar and read it out loud and see the magic
  7. I guarantee that you will be filled with overwhelming happiness.

If you donate for validation, that is not charity.

Lot of people think thanksgiving should be a monitory donation following social media status about how grateful you are donating some amount to some charity not because you really are happy about donation, but because you need validation of others to make you feel great. I think that way of charity won’t last long because that is not charity, it’s ego booster. So try to change perception from people clapping for you if you help someone to you need self satisfaction if you help someone.

Amazingly, the world can be made beautiful with lot of small things and above were merely few one’s, so i encourage you to go out and express your gratitude with actions which will fulfil your purpose of being thankful and fortunate.

Being Said That, Happy Thanks Giving Everyone Out There, Much Love!!
